Moyes and the Future

Submitted by asheshammer on

Saw a piece on the BBC site today about Moyes having other offers. I think he's trying to get out ahead of the game. What he basically said was that he wants to be managing a team that is challenging for Europe, NOT a team that is just trying to avoid relegation. To me, that's a warning shot across Sully's bow -- provide the investment to make West Ham competitive for 6th-8th place or forget about it. A good move, I think. The Board has to get serious about building a competitive side.

Meantime rumours are flying around that the Board are going to hand the reins to Manuel Pellegrini. A BAD move, I think. Pellegrini won the title with Man City, yes. But that's just the faux cred that Sully loves. (It's like velvet underwear.) If Pellegrini was any good he'd have a job with a world-class club. Instead he's making gazillions in China managing, ... who? ... Worse, the culture in China is that players actually RESPECT the manager. Can you see Pellegrini coming to West Ham, setting us up to avoid relegation, and putting up with prima donnas who only put in an effort every third match? Disaster awaits this move!!!

I like the ideas that have been floated by some of the orgers: Howe, Dyche, etc. I don't think they will come. (We should try like mad to lure Howe.) I'm prepared to be realistic and accept Moyes for another season, IF the investment is made. I don't want to see any more overage players signed either!

Players Mentality

Submitted by mcbikeman on

Another weekend another must win game and the usual statements coming out from the players....trainings been good this week and we are 100% focused on getting a result at Leicester we are going to do everything we can to secure the right result blah blah blah.....who believes this nonsense? the players themselves? I doubt that having seen a total lack of commitment from the majority of them all season....there has been a total lack of fight to win matches most of the season hence the terrible results we have been getting...whether we stay up or go down most these players need to take a long hard look at themselves in the mirror and ask did they really give it there all in matches....of course not but hey its not there fault its the managers the fans the stadium the board the tea lady but certainly not the players!...Leicester have nothing to play for this season now but after last weeks thumping by palace I see them wanting to put the record straight for there fans and what better side to do that to than west ham.....so lets see if our players truly have the desire and fight to win a game they cannot afford to lose....Brighton beat manure last night does anyone see our mob doing that on Thursday? nope me neither so today has to be a win but I will not be holding my breath.

The Salvage Plan

I think most fans agree, the way things have gone not just this season but under G&S has been pretty much dire. We've become a stale side with under performing players. The move to the 'glorious' new stadium has not been met with the same shiny performances on the pitch. to be honest, we're an embarrassment at home. the way we capitulate against teams is disgraceful. I thought Moyes was a safe pair of hands with potential to move us forwards…but now i think not. My suggestion would be to thank Moyes for keeping us up (if he does), and then do whatever it takes to lure Howe to the club. he may be untried at other 'bigger' clubs, he may fail miserably but the point is, we're stale, we're stuck in this 'no identity' on the field. we've got players with the wrong attitudes, inconsistent….its a mess. If, and its a big if, Howe could be tempted for a new challenge, one that perhaps he could see at a bigger club than Bournemouth, i'd say lets take the chance. We would have a method, some excitement especially at home if his history is anything to go by, and he could begin to sort the club out down the tiers into the youths etc using his philosophy. he's young, not an oldie like moyes, he has new ideas, he buys sensibly players who produce and fit into his style of play. He is also very capable of giving bigger teams a good game, something we are useless at nowadays. I can see him working out. We don't have much to lose, he's also got plenty of prem league experience now so not a gamble on that front. Maybe he can't take bournemouth any further, maybe he's ready for a fresh start too? thoughts people?

Last night Bayern and Real served up what can only be described as football on another planet ,sensational ,exquisite, a delight to the senses ,a billion light years away from what we are used to ,you could go on trying to find the right superlative to describe this match ,imo one of the best games ive seen ,i only hope the pooh and Roma serve up more of the same tonight ,i couldnt stop thinking how removed it was from our style of play ,maybe just maybe with the exception of 2 of our clubs ,man shifty and the pooh our type of game (head down and go ) or defend like fuk is sometimes fantastic to watch if only for the stiff competition for relegation places ,forget about wnning the dam thing that seems to be open to clubs with big bucks to spend ,im not criticizing our game ,indeed a lot of the time its exciting enough and with the exeption of this year pretty competitive, we're. used to it ,we were brought up on it ,the only thing it does show you is just how how they've hit on gold with this league evev when we did dominate it the writing was on the wall, English fans running riot in Europe although now it seems they are taking a leaf out of our book ,well the Russians the Italians the Dutch anyway ,back to last nights pleasure fest well done Real and bad luck Bayern keep playing this wonderfull type of football and your day will surley come

Carroll's Ego Bruised

Submitted by moore2come on

Seems AC left the subs bench early in the heavy defeat to Man City after Moyes made 3 substitutes at once and it didn't include him. Seems ole Andy went off in a huff at not getting any game time and decided sulking was the better part of valour. Well F**k me Andy , you've got some neck on ya!! Do you have any idea the number of times the fans have waited, wanted and needed you to be available and you've been sat up in the keiran Dyer/Andy Carroll medical ward with yet another poxy injury but still collecting your 80k pw?
You make me sick and I hope the club fines you 2 weeks wages for your petulant display and maybe just maybe you do the fans a favour for a change and piss off at the end of the season!

So Mr Moyes, whats the plan for Sunday?

Go to church and pray that we don't get humiliated?

Stay with the same format, try to keep the score down. Flood the midfield, have no one up front?

Or maybe... just maybe GO FOR IT! We have nothing to lose, bookies have City at 1 to 3 so why not dump boyfriends Mario and Fernades and play Little Pea and Lanzini or heaven forbid Carroll and rough them up a bit! Give our supporters something to cheer! COYI's!!!!

no more marqee signings please

Realistic signings is what we need not headline grabbing drag on all summer only to not get there man for some reason or other the main one being they wont pay the money! so if moyes stays I expect him to be in for two midfielders cairney being one if Fulham do not get promoted I would like to see maddison from Norwich to but I reckon he will go and get the lad john McGinn from hibs because he is around £5million mark something sugo will not shirk at paying!....Traore at boro is the wideman moyes would like defensively I think a look at the Bristol city central defender Aden Flint is worth taking a look....now I don't expect anyone to be in agreement over players mentioned but my whole point is there are players out there not going to a world cup who are available who don't break the bank and who can help form a better unit than we currently have...flashy names big wages do not always work..
