OK just a question about this VAR after watching the world cup today.....France got a penalty but the game went on as the ref said no and about 15/20 secs later he stopped the game and went to consult the VAR tv and then gave the penalty the same just happened for Peru in the Denmark match with again the match continuing until the ref stopped play after being called to go check VAR...and again gave the penalty.....Now a couple of questions really...one is why was the game not stopped whilst VAR was being checked? because secondly what would of happened if whilst its being checked the other team had scored?..the Argentina game an appeal for a pen was not given by the ref(not talking about pen given and the one messi missed)as he reckoned the argie player had dived but tv replays showed it was a penalty but because the ball had gone out of play and then restarted with goal kick VAR cannot be used!! I also thought that VAR was to assist the officials and he can still stick with his original decision but apparently not....whilst I am still not sure it was a pen to France others did that is football but this VAR mmm not so sure right now.

Could there have been a situation where the player's agent acted to get a huge percentage of the profits from his underhand tactics?

This is only a coincidental speculation and not a fact, but could it apply to various players and clubs themselves involved with such speculation. This was a flip flop season for West Ham, where some players showed up for some games and then were total passengers in other matches. Same with numerous clubs around the globe including the Italian League. We have seen FIFA officials charged. But how widespread is it?

Slow news day for SSN so they resurrect the story Arnie to manure....it has sent many a west ham site into meltdown and you have to laugh...any truth in the rumour then there is little we can do about it.....the top four sides can cherry pick from the rest and if manure want Arnie they will get him...love the line trotted out by west ham.. Might as well get this discussion started. Not interested in the insane rumours here, but I am interested in who you think we should sign and why, especially if there's a rumour that has legs. Take one example: Hegazi from WBA for £2.5M (release clause). No brainer to me: 2.5 is nothing in football these days (it's only a quarter of what was paid for Hugill). Hegazi would bring comptetition and potentially hold a place in the first team. Can't be a bad thing to go for this. Moral of story: get it done quickly before the agents whip up a bidding war that makes it ridiculous to sign him. Here are some other ones for me:

Toure: no way. if it's true that Pellegrini likes a high line, we have got to have big, fast backs and defending midfielders who can do the business. We need a box-to-box midfielder with an engine that won't quit and deft passing. Carvalho anyone? (Or reasonable alternative?)

Butland: Go for it. Look, I like Adrian, but I think Butland is a better keeper. I guess this debate could go on a long time, since the question is whether Butland is worth what it would cost to get him (£25M-£30M). But I think it's worth a shot. We gave up the most goals of any team in the EPL last season.

Joao Mario: A must sign, for me.

Dendonker: Worth seeing if the deal can be done.

I think if we get those three, plus Hegazi, a few gambles (not old farts), then we are in a decent position. Keep Arnautovic, Chicha, Lanzini, Antonio, Noble, Masuaku, Cresswell, Rice, Noble, Adrian, Zabaleta (for one more season), Ogbonna. Bye-Bye to Carroll, Kouyate, Reid, Byram, Hugill.
