noble

as much as i like the man, i think he needs taking out the team and replacing with someone with some energy who can get back and forwards more. being captain though means Bilic won't have the stomach for the change most likely. I'm not saying get rid of the man, not at all. just he's gone a bit stale in there and he has this repetitive habit of making silly tackles in dangerous areas, in every game he does it at least once. looking at what we have at the moment, options are limited with kouyate out and obiang looking just as bad but if we sign carvalho then imo noble needs to be benched. i do wonder however if the formation doesnt suit him. originally noble was a good attacking midfielder, scoring goals etc then he got pushed back into a DM. if bilic, big if and highly doubtful if, but if he changed the formation to a midfield 4, traditional style then i could see Noble being more effective with carvalho sitting as the DM (do we really need 2 x DM's?) and noble being more involved in a passing, getting forward role like he originally played. personally id play a midfield 4 of carvalho/noble, lanzini wide left, antonio wide right (old style wingers who get into the box too) and arnautovic and hernandez up front. carroll as an option alongside hernandez if ever available, sakho to replace hernandez when needed. thoughts?

Hernandez up front.

so apparently Bilic wanted Hernandez last season as well. so this means that this is a striker he has been looking to work with for a good while now. so I'm no football mastermind but surely if this is the case he has to have thought about how to utililize him as best as possible? i looked back at some leverkusen line ups and chichirito was up front in a 2 with a player sitting just behind him at times. at man u when he came on usually from the bench he went up front in a two or three to rescue the game. it just makes no sense to me playing him as a lone striker. in the first half v southampton he was practically not in the game as there was no service to him, when he did get the ball he was too deep. now harry for example would see him as a kitson, cottee or similar and play hartson or dowie etc alongside him. the big man to get his head to the ball, bully defenders around and basically hold it up for the small man to get onto. if you play one up front it means the lone striker has the full attention of the back 2 or 3. if you put someone alongside him then the very least that player takes one defender away giving him more space. now i know modern football is all about being boring and smothering the midfield but why can't bilic see that in the two rubbish games we've played so far hernandez came to life when he desperately changed it to a more attacking line up? even with sakho alongside him it looked far better, or antonio up there. you can't play 4-4-2 i know, its a dinosaur of a formation they say, its been killed off by 4-2-3-1, but teams in germany are still using it to good effect. just imagine if carroll is fit and we have him and chichirito up front. carroll would take 2 defenders off him for a start, leaving a gaping hole in the defence. or is the gaping hole in Bilic brain?

Lanzini

Ive got a bad feelin about this one ,i have for at least a month no summer friendly s and misses the first games of the season if the hub caps are arfter him for big money i think the Driscoll brothers will let him go ,i hate all the secrets surrounding transfers, same with Carroll if like most people believe he has an addiction problem why cant they say so instead of taking leading us up the garden path ,no one could be out as long as he is with an ankle injury or groin strain or whatever it is thats keeping him absent ,and another thing why cant we be told the truth about who was responsible for bringing in all that tosh last season im sure we've taken a loss on the the plebs that came here (still one or two hanging about )

so we line up again in 4-2-3-1. same as southampton. Bilic can't legislate for things like fonte ridiculousness, zabaletta throwing it away, arnautovic acting disgracefully and noble almost being sent off. But he needs to create an environment of confidence, of players playing as a team. our defending is plain embarrassing. 7 goals conceded in the first two games? wtf. I like Bilic, but its getting to a point where it just looks like he isn't strong enough to get the hairdryer out and insert it into some backsides. this obsession too with one up front is getting on my ***s. he put sakho on late against man u, we look better. he puts him on again today, we look better. why not drop the waste of space Ayew (yes i told everyone he was good, now I'm telling everyone he's rubbish, betty was right he's too lightweight). our shape is all wrong. we're not playing to our strengths. our strengths are antonio and hernandez and lanzini (if he ever plays for us again). so set the team up to get them involved. hernandez is a goal poacher, he's always in the right place at the right time…but he can't hold the line up there alone especially when you ask him to wait for service from arnautovic and ayew which never comes. put someone up there with him for god's sake man. whether its arnautovic (after his 10 match ban), sakho or carroll when fit but do something different. tired of watching us be the team everyone wants to play for an easy game. we need some aggression and i don't mean Arnautovic elbowing his way through teams…i mean some players to work relentlessly and be physically strong. Fonte is disgraceful at the back, Ogbonna doesnt command either, Hart is also letting me down, whether he's shocked by the people in front of him or not, he needs to pull it up or get Adrian in instead. regardless, we need some ruthlessness from the manager as well as the players.

Lethargic players

the lethargy that a lot of players showed last week seems to be endemic at west ham now,i lost count of how many games the players just did not look interested or bothered last season and already after just one game it raises its ugly head again. Now if you put last weeks surrender to being just a one off you hope the players have had a kick up the backside but there bottoms must of been sore after so many kickings last season!!.so we come to this saturday away to southampton who are not at there best at home and have not scored in i think 5 home matches but i am sure are pretty confident they will end that run on saturday,,when you lose like we did last week regardless of the opposition other teams smell blood in the water and already see the weaknesses inherent in this west ham team down the flanks they have redmond/tadic to run at zabaletta and pretty sure cressy will replace arthur this weekend...so you have to wonder what our coaching staff and manager have been working on this week because if we lose again i fear for us already because mentally we are not a strong side, apart from chicharito who never gave up we had 10 others just not at the races....obiang/noble one of those needs to be replaced by young rice ginge can come in for either ogbonna/reid who did not cover themselves in glory last week but that was the same for the whole team bar chciharito...wholesale changes no but players need to no 1 through to 11 no matter who you are or how big a fee was paid for you your out if you dont put the effort in that our traveling support deserves.
