Leaders do we have any?

Submitted by hammergirl on

What struck me most last night whilst at the match was how we seem to lack leadership on and off the pitch i look at Moyes he hardly inspires and sadly Declan may be Captain but that is in name only he was not giving players a verbal volley for not closing down or getting stuck in he was not urging more from his teammates no for me he looks like the kid in the playground enjoying playing in a game but not responsible for anything else.Looking at the squad who really is a leader one other players respect and will listen to during the game?.Fabs a gk as a captain does not work for me Zouma does not have the presence Cressy Coufal a no Lanzini Benny Fornals Bowen no the only one for me is Dawson and he will be leaving today i think so quite the rudderless ship at the moment.

Noble should be on staff and on the sideline he can gee the players up and dig them out when needed he has there respect and clearly knows whats what during a game on the pitch as i say leadership cannot be taught you are either born with it or not.As an aside to that look at the current state of those who would be our next PM they hardly inspire and again certainly not leaders we all know one when we see one.

Paqueta

And in true West Ham style the club rip the arse out of each signing. If he is not available for Tottenham it's a disgrace. Apparently the medical is complete but needs to be registered by midday tomorrow. Probably blame it on Bank Holiday.

Football stuff you forget as you grow old

Watched an old Big Match(still love the opening music)other night West Ham v Newcastle one sub only! ahhh them the days anyway i was looking at the lineups and i rmbr going to the game but what i did not rmbr and even now i think really he played for Newcastle i could not believe it..who you ask? well Peter Withe is the player i thought he only played for Villa lol but guess its because of there European Cup win is the reason behind that......and all these years on i still only picture Andy Gray scoring the league cup final winner for Wolves over all else...the mind does seem to fog somewhat it appears.

Lanzini/Soucek/Downes

Submitted by Oldtimehammer on

Three midfielders i feel that should not start a match for us and just be options from the bench.

Lanzini to my mind never has gotten over that terrible injury that prevented him from going to the world cup and has been nowhere near the player that he once was for me.

Soucek his form has fallen off the biggest cliff i have ever known and i cannot work out why? yes he scored against Viborg but that for me was down to the opposition.

Downes a new arrival and from hearing our manager not quite sure on this player now a certain name comes to mind from the recent past and that is Jordan Hugil will Downes suffer the same fate? very enthusiastic and a West Ham boy but will that be enough for our manager?judging on kral and Vlasic last season i think its most likely not.

So where does that leave our midfield options? it is Rice and one other but who? Coventry? Fornals? or if we get them these new men Paqueta or Vanaken?

The engine room of our squad is currently running on one cylinder and that right now needs a service a lot of weight put on that young mans shoulders right now and he needs help fast.

Low ball offers

Submitted by mcbikeman on

Lucas Paqueta Brazil international has 3 years left on his contract and we bid as being reported £33.7 million which has been rejected and told it has to be closer to £50million to get him...his agents are in London and looking to get a deal from a premier league club all fine and Dandy you think but then you See that Arsenal now looking at him and well if thats the case kiss any kind of deal goodbye........our constant low ball offers for players alerts other clubs and in they come this has to stop....Make offers that are realistic and not just headline grabbers which you then claim ahh we tried to get him but another club knicked him........i am all for negotiations but when you start off low balling the way we do clubs just not taking you seriously i mean if the shoe was on the other foot how peed off would the club be if Chelski/manure etc offered £60million for Rice they would not entertain it you hope!.

This Lucas Paqueta deal would be a big one for the club but if it is to happen for a player of his ilk you have to pay the going rate otherwise do not bid in the first place IMO.....it will be Onana all over again with Moyes changing his mind allegedly.

Joke of the week

Seriously, have you heard the one about David Moyes and his post match interview????

"Brighton were the better team" - Yes they were David, a good fair statement!!

"We did some good things that never got noticed. Ahh David, that's a cracker.

Well, what can you say to that?? I mean seriously come on!!!!

learn from the spuds

Submitted by mcbikeman on

Go back a year we were revelling in the mess that the spuds were under Nuno Espírito Santo they showed him the door because they were like we are now an embarrassment and becoming a laughing stock....they got Conte in and not looked back since.....We need to get rid of Moyes this has been going on to long and whilst i do not think Warburton would be a long term replacement he would make a good caretaker while better candidates are interviewed.

Brighton game

Submitted by Chippy Dave on

I think this will be a tough game today, Brighton are good with the ball, quick interchanges and can keep possession, if they had a decent goal scorer then they would be even better.
I think West Ham will need to work hard today closing down players and spaces, which is worrying because they haven’t shown much appetite for that so far this season.
I’m going for a 1-1 draw, don’t see West Ham winning this unless they show huge improvement.

West Ham would you watch them?

Submitted by Oldtimehammer on

As a supporter of our club the answer is yes but in all my days i have to say these last year since January we are not an easy watch.
The free flowing attacking football we started with last season has gone it is like an exorcism has been performed on the team and it has been driven out and replaced by a hollow shell of a side lacking any real enthusiasm for the game.
Whilst in all my years watching West Ham i am not about to claim we are world beaters but we have always been entertainers and yes it has not won us much playing that way but i would rather that than what of late has been served up.
I despair at the constant passing across the back line which is so slow i think i could play there! the lack of any movement in the middle of the park and lack of creativity is really alarming as we have always had players who can knock a ball around and create things but currently it would seem not.
The tactics of our manager to not lose a game also means we do not try to win even when playing at home that my friends for me is the wrong attitude to take and because of it we really are not easy on the eye and whilst its not a real concern other supporters just switch off and would rather watch paint dry than a West Ham game it is to me.
I love my football and enjoy watching others when our team is not playing but lately a lot of my pals who not being a fan of our club would rather play dominos or whist when we are on.
So Mr Moyes please do something to make us exciting to watch again maybe play Antonio wide right Scamacca through the middle and maybe our gem of a player bowen dovetailing behind that would be exciting and something different to see.
