It is being said we have lodged a bid for Aymen Abdennour, Tunisian central defender currently with Monaco. Would be another BIG purchase if it happened as Monaco want 20 million Euros for him! Possible long term replacement for Ginge. Juventus, Tottenham, and Newcastle have ll been mentioned as interested.
If we are also after Remy, as rumoured, that would make a mockery of us "only" spending 25 million this summer!

Spending that kind of money he is not going to be no bench warmer, its either Tomkins or Reid who is going to make way in the first team, with the other serving as cover with Collins and Henry.I think now its the full back situation that is most concerning .Hendrie is untried at premiership level as cover for Cresswell and Jenkinson still has to be nailed.I don't think Bilic will be relying on O'Brien solely as cover for Jenkinson. So there is still some strengthening needed to be done there.

Cresswell was playing with Ipswich who were pushing for promotion into the premiership, often receiving man of the match .I think that tells you something the guy wouldn't have too many problems playing premiership football.Hendrie has been playing his football with Hamilton in the Scottish premiership ,which may be compared to championship teams but the pace of the EPL is a lot quicker.Think he may initially have problems adjusting, but he may come good ,lets hope so.

Nothing to do with transfers ANTKB but I saw the film Snatch the other night on TV and I immediately thought of you. Don't keep pigs do you !!!!!!

I have met Brick Top as he is godfather to a girl local I know, he was an absolute gentleman and I told him his delivery of the 'Do you know what nemesis means?' line was one of my favourite ever. He smiled and loved the appreciation in a genuine way.

A true gentleman. Met him several times in the late 80's and early 90's through Pattie Caldwell (ex Nationwide) I built a couple of conservatories for her in Hampstead and he was a close friend of hers. Went to a few parties where all the Bill actors would turn up. Met DI Galloway at one. Top bloke...Alan was meant to be in Lock Stock, too, but Guy Ritchie cut him out of it. He told me he was properly gutted as I met him in an old restaurant haunt in Hampstead. He then turns up as the main man in Snatch 2 years later. Our mutual friend Pattie sadly passed away in the early 90's. Some very fond memories. Cheers

Rumour we might be after Kevin Mirallas from Everton, apparently he only has 1 year left on his contract; presumably would be if Downing left...

I'd consider him a Downing 'swap' even perhaps a slight improvement. So if we could also get this Lanzini kid in as a backup/addition we'd have a much stronger midfield going forward! Add maybe Hernandez, and maybe Diarra if Song can't play for a few months and I'm a happy Hammer! Still need another right back, but Diarra can cover that. I don't want much!! LOL

As soon as Arsenal made it clear that they were not selling him we should have looked else where . Now we are spending money out to Arsenal in fees and wages, were we could have spent it on a long term player that we own.

with the Jenks deal now complete if nothing else it will be an eye opener for the young guns coming through and hopefully after the season long loan we will see a prospect of our own coming through. At this time and so close to the season start proper an astute move .

I think we will see a lot of offloading soon possibly after we sign two strikers. A 21 year old is rumoured Croatian striker Marko Livaja. And Hernandez from Man U. Alex Song possibly and then we will see an exodus of about 3-4 players imo (Nolan, Jarvis, Collins and just maybe Noble).
Bilic may even get one more loanee and another defender.
Quite a merry go round and when the sums are made it's around £50m if you count the wages on the buying side. So some players on high wages are going to go. I just wonder if Andy Carroll is due to go (Newastle?) as we will have four other strikers?
If not then SUGO really are using that extra funding from TV rights and taking the risk that we wont get relegated by buying talented players! All good stuff :-)

Sounds like Hernandez not for sale, and Mattia Destro wants to stay in Italy, so the search for a new striker seemingly continues. Hope we don't' end up with Borini or somebody else second-rate and no better than what we already have, I'd rather we spent the cash on 2 good attacking mid-fielders.
